Got kids? Join the Saint Chrysostom's Day School community for their annual Gingerbread Making Workshop on before Friday 5:00 p.m. Candlelight Carols, and on Saturday afternoon in the gym. For information on pricing and to reserve, please call the Day School at (312) 642-3422 BY DEC. 5.

FRIDAY, DEC 8 at 5 & 7:30 p.m. | Candlelight Carols
We'll sing beloved carols, hear poetry and prose readings and more. We'll also have a visit from St. Nicholas (5 p.m. session), hear the piper play, and eat Christmas goodies. A contribution to Music and Saint Chrysostom's is required—RESERVE by Dec. 5.

SUNDAY, DEC. 10 at 10 a.m. | Adult Forum “Release and Reentry”
Through December 17 we are examining the price that mass incarceration exacts of individuals, especially African-Americans, and of our society at large. This week, Rev. Saeed Richardson, director of policy for the Community Renewal Society will discuss how prisoner release and reentry is handled now and what it will take to improve that grim reality.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 13 at 1:30 p.m. | St. Chrysostom’s Book Club
Men and women of all ages are welcome to our monthly meetings in the North Room. There is no commitment or membership requirement. This month we’ll consider Atonement by Ian McEwan. Anne Brinsmade describes the book as a “symphonic novel of love and war, childhood and class, guilt and forgiveness” by “the master of English prose.” McEwan won the Somerset Maugham Award in 1976 for his first collection of short stories, First Love.

Donate “gently worn” coats and other warm clothing to help our Neighbors in Need guests prepare for another Chicago winter—in the church office during weekday business hours OR at church before or after any of our Sunday services.

FRIDAY, DEC 15 at 6 p.m. | YoPro Secret Santa Xmas Party & Evening Prayer
Join us in the Hardin Room for eggnog and treats plus a gift exchange (should not cost more than $20). Evening prayer will begin at 8:30 p.m.

The children of the parish will present their dramatization of the Christmas story as part of our 9 a.m. Eucharist. All are welcome—especially children who want to join in.

For the final session on the history and causes of mass incarceration, Rev. Al Sharp returns to review the conversation to date and some of the ways that we can get involved in helping to interrupt the system.

SUNDAY, DEC. 17 at Noon | Theology on Tap Brunch: Advent Style
God’s Grace—Living into the Unexpected...What is the season of advent all about? What can we learn from Elizabeth, Zachariah, Joseph, and Mary? Over brunch at Blue Door (52 W. Elm) we will explore the ways in which their story of God’s grace is our story too. Guest Speaker: The Rev. Stacy Alan

SUNDAY, DEC. 17 at 3 p.m. | Caroling with the Carillon
We will sing our favorite carols in the courtyard accompanied by our 43-bell carillon. Great music and great fellowship plus hot chocolate & donuts!
