Parishioners gather for a weekly Sunday Bible study in St. Chrysostom’s Guild Room or by Zoom beginning at 8:45 am. Call 312.626.6799 to join by Zoom. Other opportunities for Bible study are Tuesdays at 12:00 pm in the Rector’s Study, or by Zoom on Thursdays at 10:15 am. The Women of St. Chrysostom’s (WOSC) has actively served the parish for more than 130 years. From fundraisers to social outings, inspirational speakers and activities for all ages, WOSC’s events are designed to bring parishioners together to establish lasting friendships. The group supports community outreach and special projects, offering its members the camaraderie, passion and joy of participating in worthwhile causes. St. Chrysostom’s Men’s Group meets on the first Saturday morning of every month at 9:45 am coffee and conversation on topics of the day and how the group can support the broader mission of the parish. St. C’s Young Professionals fellowship group offers a place to meet new friends, gather for good conversation, share a meal and discuss the mysteries of faith. St. Chrysostom’s offers a Grief Support Circle, providing a deep level of care for the grieving person who is interested in dealing with the emotions of life and stresses following the death of a loved one. Participants support and pray for one another as they move forward through the loneliness and isolation of grief. Meetings are held on the fourth Sunday of each month at 9:00 am in the Campeau Room prior to the 10:15 am service.
Joining The Episcopal Church work toward Becoming Beloved Community, St. Chrysostom’s parishioners are inspired by the promises we make in our Baptismal Covenant to strive for justice and peace among all people through better understanding the injustices of our world. Our faith leads us to dig deep within our own stories and to wonder meaningfully and faithfully about how we can contribute to God’s dream of Beloved Community in our daily lives and in the work we do collectively to address injustice.
All are welcome to join St. Chrysostom’s Book Club, held the second Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm via Zoom. Selections are announced in the weekly parish newsletter, as well as contact information.
Offering their common love of gardening, St. Chrysostom’s Lay Weeders meet seasonally on Saturday mornings to care for the church’s lovely gardens and outdoor planters. The group weeds, plants or prunes the garden’s flowers, bushes and trees, maintaining St. Chrysostom’s small oasis for the enjoyment of parishioners and the neighboring community. Volunteers from the parish and wider community are welcome— no experience needed. Contact the church office at info@saintc.org for upcoming gardening dates and to join the Lay Weeders.
An evening of fellowship and artistic expression is offered for those interested in knitting, crocheting, needlework, quilting or any other handwork. All are welcome to join St. Chrysostom’s Fabric Arts Club on the second Sunday of the month from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the Rector’s Study.
