Our Governance

St. Chrysostom's is a member of The Episcopal Diocese of Chicago and the Episcopal Church, which is the only U.S.-based member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Rooted in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, we embrace a diversity of cultural, liturgical and theological expression with a legacy of inclusion. Our laypeople and clergy work together in leadership and governance to support the financial health and maintenance of the parish and physical plant.

The Rev. Dr. Ian Burch, St. Chrysostom’s Rector and Senior priest, is responsible for all worship and liturgical decisions and serves as head of staff. The Vestry, or board of directors, is responsible for parish maintenance and finances and is led by a senior warden and a junior warden. Together with the rector, the wardens serve as the parish executive committee to address the daily needs of the congregation. Twelve members of the vestry are elected to serve three-year terms, rotating each January at the parish-wide annual meeting, while the wardens are elected for one-year terms. A member of the vestry chairs St. Chrysostom’s finance committee, with the responsibility for advising on financial matters and developing the annual budget.
