St. Chrysostom’s volunteer Flower Guild prepares floral designs for the enjoyment of each Sunday’s worshipers. Arrangements are often donated in thanksgiving or as a memorial in honor of loved ones or special life moments with an announcement placed in the Sunday bulletin. An acolyte is part of the vested ministry team that helps lead the congregation in worship. Carrying the processional cross, an acolyte leads the procession into and out of the church. One leads the clergy in the gospel procession, while others carry torches signifying Christ’s light coming into the world as the gospel is read. An acolyte assists the presider at the altar, assists the ushers with offertory plates and prepares for the Holy Eucharist by closing and opening the sanctuary gates. Children ages 3rd grade and older are invited to serve as acolytes.
The St. Chrysostom’s Singers are the parish adult choir. These talented and dedicated parishioners gather approximately once per month to sing at the 10:15 a.m.service, usually singing alongside singers of the church professional choir.
The Children’s Chorister Program gives children a first-class musical education and also helps them feel that they belong in a worship setting. They’ll also learn about history, culture, mathematics, art, language and how to be an effective member of a team.
